The Ethekwini Ratepayers & Resident's Associaton and its affiliates say NO to these tariff increases!

The residents of eThekwini Municipality, South Africa, are facing an unjust situation. The municipality is proposing increases in water, electricity, sanitation and refuse tariffs despite the poor service delivery that we are experiencing. It is unacceptable for us to pay more while receiving less.

Service delivery has been a persistent issue in our municipality. According to Statistics South Africa (Stats SA), many households across the country have expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of services provided by local municipalities, particularly regarding water and electricity.

In eThekwini Municipality specifically, there have been numerous complaints about inconsistent water supply, frequent power outages and disastrous sanitation practices. These issues disrupt our daily lives and hinder economic activities in our community.

We believe it is unfair for the municipality to increase tariffs when they cannot deliver reliable services. We call on all residents of eThekwini Municipality to stand together against this proposed tariff increase until we see significant improvements in service delivery. 

Please sign this petition to reject the proposed tariff increases by eThekwini Municipality until they can guarantee improved services for all residents.

2024/2025 Tariff increases:

Electricity - 14.0%

Water - 14.9%

Sanitation - 12.9%

Refuse - 9.9%
