Hello Neighbours,

Thank you for signing the Reject Development Permit DP2024-05807 Petition. I am amazed that in less than a day, we have 17 signatories to the petition, which was only circulated to 18 households on 83 St. NW. That clearly conveys that our community is unified in our opposition to DP2024-05807, a message that I will deliver this week to our local City Councillor, Sonya Sharp and the Planner assigned to this file.

Your voices matter! There are a few actions you can do to help deliver this message:

1)      If you have not done so, please file your objection to DP 2024-05807. This is the formal process and is easy for providing input to a development permit and can be filed using this link:   https://dmap.calgary.ca/?p=DP2024-05807

2)      Send an email to Councillor Sonya Sharp to let her know that you object to this development (please include DP 2024-05807 in the subject matter). Comments you have provided with the Petition would be appropriate to include in this email. Councillor Sharp can be reached at the following email: sonya.sharp@calgary.ca

3)      Send an email to the Planner. The decision on DP2024-05807 has been delegated to Administration (City Staff in the Planning Dept.). The Planner assigned to the file will be asked to provide community feedback on the application. Her contact information is:  Selena.Kirzinger@calgary.ca

4)      Spread the word. All adult members of your household should sign the petition. If approved, the proposed 8-unit development will set a precedence for other residential infill applications in Bowness. The more people that communicate their opposition to DP 2024-05807, the greater the chance we have at influencing the decision on this application. Local media is reporting on the opposition from high-density infill development projects since the adoption of the blanket R-CG zoning law (which applies to this location).
