Hi Friends!

We have a very positive development to report. Yesterday, in response to the Memo submitted by Mayor Pro Tem Willis and Council Member Blackmon, the City Manager has decided to pause the trash collection changes. This is great news! She is allowing time to reconsider, review and reevaluate all feasible options.

You can read her statement here:

City Manager Places Temporary Pause on Alley-to-Curb Transition

We have requested that a small task force of concerned citizens be formed to work alongside the city to find a path forward that addresses both the city's safety concerns while respecting the unique design of our Dallas neighborhoods. More to come on this.

In the meantime:

If you are so inclined, it might be a nice gesture to send an email of appreciation to City Manager Tolbert for her leadership and willingness to listen. In addition, I'm sure Mayor Pro Tem Gay Willis and Council Members Paula Blackmon and Bill Roth would appreciate a kind word as well for their support and for advocating on our behalf.

Also...it would be helpful to the city and to the future of our alley service collection for all of us to review our own alleys and take care of any overgrown vegetation and tree limbs. A call to 3-1-1 can help with repairs and code violations. Let's help the city help us to continue to provide this essential service.

As always, please visit www.keepalleytrash.com for up to date information, yards signs and an easy way to contact your City Council Member!

The fight continues!....but with a big dose of hope!
