Another great turn-out with the VAST (everyone except 2 ppl..one directly will benefit from the project as a local landowner and another, assuming no benefits, probably should move back to charlotte) majority of residents speaking very well, against this rezoning and project.
However, the BIG NEWS was coincidentally (we helped bring to bear) Union County BOCC met yesterday and changed their policy so the Commissioners have to VOTE on Developments sewer/station hook-ups AND they UNANIMOUSLY voted AGAINST approval for Weddington Green!
The CUMD connection is used to handle any overflows from the 12 Mile Creek basin. It is NOT meant to handle new capacity.
The BOCC also approved an amendment to not allow any pump stations in the system. Any exception would need to be approved by the BOCC NOT county staff, such as just the PW Manager.
So what does this mean..In the near-term (years), this development is most likely dead. Someone could buy it and wait for future expansions, however still the issue at hand in many of our opinions is to fight the rezoning if Council still moves forward with that, as this was our original fight.
Stay tuned and ENGAGED! Thanks, "the Opposition"
