The Issue

The Senior Nutrition Task Force Act was introduced in 2023 with Bipartisan support but never made it past the committee stage for a vote. The bill was co-sponsored by Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick, R- PA and Jasmine Crockett, D- TX with support from:

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
The Bipartisan Policy Center
Meals on Wheels (and many others!!!)
For decades, households with an older or disabled person have been at higher risk for food insecurity. Seniors and disabled people, especially those with limited income, frequently have to choose between paying for medical care or food.  Depending on a person's abilities, cost saving strategies like bargain hunting and meal prep may not be feasible options. Many older people who live with grandchildren go hungry to make sure the children are fed before themselves. None of this is ok.

Food prices continue to rise and right now the Congressional Budget Office is estimating that 1.1 million people will lose SNAP benefits between 2025 and 2034!!!

Reintroducing the The Senior Nutrition Task Force Act will create a task force to study the underlying causes of hunger and food insecurity facing older and disabled Americans. Their report will be a blueprint for lawmakers to create a effective, bipartisan legislation to address the utilizing government agencies more efficiently and minimizing gaps in services. Please sign and we'll remind our legislators to work together for the people.
