Reinstate Weekly Bin Collections in Waltham Forest

Reinstate Weekly Bin Collections in Waltham Forest
The Issue
I am writing today to address an issue that significantly impacts my life and surely the lives of many others in Waltham Forest. As of Monday, 24th March 2025, our council has decided to collect our rubbish fortnightly instead of weekly, which is simply not sufficient. With the ongoing increase in council tax, it would be reasonable for us to expect, at the very least, the maintenance of essential services. Yet, instead of seeing an increase in services, we experience a decline.
Our household bins are filled to capacity within a week, leaving us with additional waste that we have no way of adequately disposing of. This is particularly challenging during family gatherings and festive celebrations. In these instances, the fortnightly collection schedule proves severely inadequate, forcing us to accumulate rubbish. This, in turn, leads to litter accumulation on our streets, detracting from the visual appeal of our neighbourhoods and possibly posing a public health risk.
I invite you to join me in urging the Waltham Forest council to reconsider their decision and reinstate weekly bin collections in our area. It is only through setting a precedent for fighting for these crucial services that we can ensure they don't retreat further in times of economic austerity.
