Reinstate the School Crossing Patrol at Dalestorth Street, Dalestorth Road and Skegby Road

The Issue

As concerned parents, residents and councillors of Sutton-in-Ashfield, we are deeply worried about the safety of our children crossing the busy junction of Dalestorth Street, Dalestorth Road and Skegby Road.

Eight years ago, Nottinghamshire County Council removed the school crossing patrol - a decision we believe is putting our children's lives at risk.

This junction has become an accident waiting to happen. We fear that if no action is taken soon, there could be serious accidents involving our young ones.

The lollipop patrol was not just a symbol; it was a vital safety measure for our children going to and from school every day. The removal of this service has left us feeling anxious about their journey each day.

We urge Nottinghamshire County Council to consider the potential consequences of not reinstating this crucial service. We ask them to prioritise our children's safety over budget cuts or other considerations that led to its removal eight years ago.

In the longer term, we call for either a pedestrian or level crossing in this location.

Please join us in calling for immediate action on this matter by signing this petition today!
