The decision by Regina City officials to disallow the flag-raising ceremony for Palestine is greatly concerning. This action signifies that our right to cultural expression and legitimate political manifestations are somehow deemed less valid. Palestinians are not just a group of people; they represent a lineage rich with history, culture, and heritage. An action, such as barring the raising of the Palestinian flag, discredits the diversity they add to Regina and undermines our community’s vibrant multicultural spirit.

Earlier this year, the City of Regina held a  Israeli flag-raising. The Palestinian community has always been an active participants in Regina, with their flag symbolizing a richly rooted culture and history. Refusing one community from practicing this right is a blight on the ethos of equal representation that Regina has always strived to uphold.

We are not asking for special consideration, only equal consideration. Let's redress this decision. It's essential that the Palestinian community is recognised as an integral part of Regina's diverse cultural mosaic. We request the city officials of Regina to reinstate the flag-raising ceremony for Palestine.
