As a 2020 high school graduate, I saw firsthand what it felt like to be robbed of the joy and pride that come with a graduation ceremony due to COVID-19. Now, it appears history repeats itself as I, graduating in fall 2024, will again be deprived of another graduation ceremony, this time from the University of New Orleans. This decision has not only swept away the spirit and excitement of our academic achievements but also disregarded our efforts and hard work.

This plan affects not just the soon-to-be graduates, but also hundreds of our family members who have been eagerly planning to attend, many traveling from out of state or even out of the country. The ceremony's cancelation puts them in a tight spot. 

Thus, we call upon the administration of the University of New Orleans to reconsider its decision and allow us, the students graduating in Fall 2024, to celebrate our journey and academic accomplishments. Please acknowledge our hard work and our families' anticipation by reinstating the Fall 2024 Graduation Ceremony. Sign this petition in solidarity.
