I started this petition around a month ago and I initially planned to send a copy to the government as soon as it reached 5,000 signatures. The past 10 days have defied all expectations and I am delighted to announce that this petition has now been signed by over 50,000 people across the UK.

Your support has been phenomenal and I cannot thank you all enough. People power really can deliver change and I hope this petition now shows the government that this is a real issue affecting so many across the UK.

I now intend to send a full copy of the petition, including all comments, to the Chancellor.
