Cheerleading holds a special place in my heart. Having been involved in cheer since like forever, I have experienced firsthand the joy, community, and sense of belonging it offers. The International School Aberdeen (ISA) once had a cheerleading team, but it has been disbanded, leaving a gap in our extracurricular offerings. At a school with numerous sports and music teams, the absence of a cheer team is a missed opportunity for students who share my passion.

Cheerleading is more than just a sport; it's a way to enhance school spirit, build teamwork, and develop leadership skills. Plus, we have tons os sports games a year where other schools come play against us. It would be nice to have a cheer team cheering ISA on. It encourages confidence and provides a platform for students to express themselves in a spirited and supportive environment. It's time we gave our students the chance to experience the energy and camaraderie that cheerleading fosters.

Many schools worldwide recognize the importance of cheerleading in fostering a sense of school pride and inclusivity. According to the International Cheer Union, over 3.5 million people participate in cheerleading globally, illustrating its popularity and relevancy. A cheer team at ISA would not only align us with global trends but also enrich our school's  program, providing more balanced opportunities for all students.

I think that ISA should reinstate our cheerleading team. To achieve this, we need to gather support from students, parents, etc, we need to gauge student enthusiasm, I myself had volunteered to be cheer captain and take full responsiblity and fund raisers for costumes.

Let's work together to bring cheerleading back to ISA, ensuring future students can discover cheer and learn to love it just as much as I have.  Join me in calling on the school administration to reinstate the cheerleading team.
