This issue is deeply personal to me and undoubtedly to many in our community. Imagine this affecting women close to your heart – your spouse or partner, your mother, your daughter, your sister, your niece, or your friend. Like many, I believe it's crucial to ensure that every woman has easy and equitable access to breast screening services.

Breast screening is an essential healthcare service that has been proven to save lives by detecting cancer early. The statistics are compelling – according to Cancer Research UK, breast cancer survival rates are now over 85% largely due to early detection through screening. However, without straightforward and convenient access, women in Warminster are potentially being denied this life-saving opportunity.

Recently, the Breast Screening Mobile Service in Warminster was discontinued, stripping our local women of the convenience and accessibility that is vital in ensuring routine and timely breast health check-ups. For women without the means or ability to go to the White Horse Medical Centre in Westbury , the absence of this service could mean missing crucial screening appointments. October is Breast Screening Awareness Month, yet this decison makes it less likely that some women will be able to attend.  

We are calling on the local NHS authorities and decision-makers to prioritise women's health in our community by reinstating the Breast Screening Mobile Service in Warminster. This service has been a crucial tool in fighting breast cancer in our area, and reestablishing it would demonstrate a commitment to improving women's healthcare. Moreover, we have received  backing from both the Avenue Surgery and its Patient Participation Group for this important campaign.

The health of our spouses, mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends should be a top priority.
