No Response From Regional Library

It has been a month since the petition was sent to the South East Regional Library, the Mayor of Weyburn and our local MLA. Aside from statements given by the mayor’s office and the Weyburn Library manager to an inquiry by Discover Weyburn, we have not had a response.
For all of us who rely on the Adult Program at the Weyburn Public library for connection, social interaction and support, this silence is deafening. We have continued to gather signatures both online and in person and the total has reached 729 people or 6-6.5% of the population of Weyburn. The popularity of the Adult Program should not be the reason for its removal. It should be a rallying cry to the South East Regional Library to find ways to keep the program, be it fundraisers, donations, book sales, or asking for more people to volunteer to keep the program running.
All patrons of the library over the age of 18 need to raise their voices and let the powers that be know that we are not willing to let this cut to our library services go without a fight.
I will be forwarding the petition to the Palliser Regional Library headquarters in Moose Jaw in a couple of weeks. Please write letters about your experiences with the Adult Program and how it has impacted you to have it cut. Share your memories. Share your stories.
Please forward them to me at weyburnlibrarypetition@gmail.com before August 10, 2026.
