Reinstate Shay Hill at the Crazy Cajun in Beaumont, Victim of Unfair Termination
The Issue
Shay Hill, a 23-year-old Lamar University college student, has worked tirelessly to balance her academic responsibilities, two jobs, and a life away from home. One of these jobs was at the Crazy Cajun in Beaumont, TX. where she had been an employee for over three years, up until an unjust incident occurred.
On November 13th, an inexperienced and manager unjustly fired Shay. She was subjected to harassment over the length of her shorts and eventually let go from her position. What makes the situation even more disheartening is that she was singled out and discriminated against, with others wearing even shorter shorts and going unnoticed.
Texas, while being an 'at will' state, explicitly prohibits employment discrimination. The law should protect everyone's right to work without the fear of being unfairly judged, including Shay. Yet, it seems that the new management at Crazy Cajun thought it suitable to discriminate against Shay and terminate her employment unjustly.
We call on the management of the Crazy Cajun in Beaumont to acknowledge the unfair treatment of Shay Hill and reinstate her with back pay. Let's stand together to support Shay and ensure that she's treated equally and justly in the workplace, in line with the Texas employment laws.
Please sign this petition and show that discrimination has no place in our society! The more signatures we gather, the more pressure we can place on the restaurant to resolve this matter fairly. Let's demand justice for Shay!
