The Issue

Our beloved Professor Dixon has been placed on administrative leave at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill due to his "anti-fascist" and "anti-racist" views. Such an action is not only a personal attack on Professor Dixon but a silent blow to the values that this great nation and university was formed to protect.

Through 2017 and 2018 Dr. Dixon saw the legal system weaponized against him for taking defensive actions during protests for Racial Equality. At the time all of his various fake charges were dropped by the courts due to having zero basis. However in a Post-Reality America the threat of renewed legal action persists as the only reality that matters is that of disturbed Right-Wing lunatics on X and a purged DOJ simply dying to gain their favor.

On September 27th, Turning Point USA spokesperson Andrew Kolvet posted a defamatory tirade on his X page referencing Dr.Dixon where he demanding UNC fire him immediately for merely having been previously involved in a gun club that advocated for marginalized groups to express their 2nd Amendment rights in response to the rise in Hate crime.

Freedom of association is outlined in the US Constitution. There has Never been a terroristic event associated with "Redneck Revolt" and their biggest activities are supporting gun rights and community gardens. This means there is No evidence he is or has been violent and therefore His rights are actively being violated. No result of an “investigation“ changes that simple fact.

The Purge of Academia is one of the first steps on the road to Fascism. We cannot allow any institution, especially one as storied as UNC Chapel Hill, to side with TPUSA under the guise of maintaining "civil debate". It is crucial that we stand together as students, alumni, and members of the academic family to prevent the deterioration of academic freedom and ensure this institution remains both a place of learning and open discourse and a place free of fascistic tyranny.

Professor Dixon's passion for teaching and commitment to his students and community have made a lasting impact on many lives. He is one of the highest rated professors on RateMyProfessor with a 4.6 star rating with one student remarking:

"Dixon was my best professor to date. Period. ... Talk to him after class; he is truly inspiring."

We decide to honor his dedication to the pursuit of knowledge by creating this petition to ensure he can continue to share his truth and help cultivate a campus culture of vibrant opinions. We must show that the strength of our institution lies in our ability to welcome diverse perspectives and to stand firm against Intimidation and discrimination.

I implore you to sign this petition to Demand UNC Chapel Hill immediately reinstate Professor Dixon and allow him back into the classroom. Do not let our university's legacy be stained by capitulation and censorship. Together, we can make our voices are heard loud and clear by University Leadership and at the same time uphold the very principles of freedom and justice that are at the heart of education.
