Reinstate My Facebook Account: Restoring Hope, Innovation, and a Lifeline for Thousands
The Issue
A Plea for Fairness: Urgent Request to Restore My Disabled Facebook Account
I, Aklahyel Goni, am writing this petition with a heavy heart to urge Facebook to reconsider their decision to permanently disable my verified account, @XploreGoni, which has over 272,000 followers and an average monthly reach of more than 50,000,000 people. This account is not just a social media profile; it is a lifeline for thousands of young men, a beacon of hope for innovation, and a source of stability for my family.
For years, I have poured my heart, energy, and soul into this platform, using it to positively transform lives. The sudden suspension of my account has caused irreparable damage, not only to me as the breadwinner of my family but also to the countless individuals who rely on my mentorship, guidance, and support.
A Platform of Purpose and Transformation
My Facebook account has never been about mere content—it is a movement. Over the years, I have used this platform to:
Mentor Thousands of Young Men: Teaching them about character, financial independence, discipline, relationships, and the essence of masculinity in a world that often seeks to strip it away. These young men come to me broken, confused, and desperate for direction, and my work gives them a renewed sense of purpose and confidence.
Empower Entrepreneurs: Through my business plan writing competition, I aim to award grants to over 1,000 aspiring entrepreneurs annually. These grants are designed to lift people out of poverty, support small businesses, and foster innovation. The first batch of winners was to be announced in February, but this dream has been put on hold.
Inspire National Innovation: I am currently leading the groundbreaking effort to build Nigeria’s first locally made aircraft. This project is not just about creating an aircraft—it is about igniting a passion for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) in Nigeria, inspiring young engineers, and showcasing what Nigerians are capable of. Facebook has been my primary tool to promote this project, connect with stakeholders, and rally support.
Support My Family and Community: As the breadwinner, my family depends on the income and opportunities generated through this platform. Beyond my immediate family, thousands of young men depend on my mentorship to navigate their lives and careers.
This account has been a bridge of hope, and its sudden suspension has shattered that bridge for so many.
The Incident
The suspension of my account occurred after I unintentionally uploaded an inappropriate image of a child holding an object that violates Facebook’s content policies. This was an honest mistake that happened while I was distracted. I had no intention of violating Facebook’s guidelines, and I deeply regret this error.
I fully acknowledge the seriousness of such content appearing on the platform, even if by accident, and I take complete responsibility for the mistake. However, this singular misstep does not define the overall purpose, intent, and positive impact of my account.
The Devastating Impact
The suspension of my account has been catastrophic in ways that words cannot fully express:
The Collapse of Dreams: The young men I mentor, the entrepreneurs waiting for grants, and the dream of inspiring a generation through Nigeria’s first aircraft are all on hold, with no platform to continue this work.
Financial Hardship: My family’s livelihood depends on this account. My WhatsApp account, also banned, was my primary business line and the hub for managing projects, partnerships, and financial transactions. It was also tied to critical Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) systems for my financial services, leaving me vulnerable to even greater risks.
The Loss of a Lifeline: For many young men across Nigeria and beyond, my account was a lifeline—a source of wisdom, empowerment, and guidance in a world that often feels hostile to their growth.
This suspension has not only disrupted my personal life but also halted the dreams, hopes, and aspirations of thousands who rely on this platform for mentorship, resources, and opportunities.
A Call for Justice and Second Chances
I am not asking for special treatment—I am asking for fairness. Mistakes happen, but they should not erase years of hard work, dedication, and positive impact. I humbly request:
1. A thorough and transparent review of my account activity to assess the full context of the flagged content.
2. An opportunity to explain, clarify, and rectify the mistake.
3. The restoration of my account to allow me to continue the critical work that has touched so many lives.
This account has been a force for good, and its restoration would mean the restoration of hope, innovation, and purpose for thousands of individuals.
Why This Matters
This petition is bigger than me—it’s about the countless lives this platform has touched, the dreams it has fueled, and the positive ripple effect it has created. We live in a world that desperately needs more platforms of empowerment and less judgment. By reinstating my account, Facebook has the chance to not only right a wrong but to show that it values fairness, transparency, and the incredible impact of its users.
I have learned a profound lesson from this incident, and I am committed to exercising greater caution in the future. I believe in the power of second chances, and I am asking for Facebook to give me the opportunity to continue this journey of transformation, innovation, and hope.
Please join me in signing this petition to call on Facebook to reconsider their decision and reinstate my account. Together, we can restore not just a platform but the lives, dreams, and aspirations that depend on it.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Aklahyel Goni
