The Issue

Mr. Steve Pappas was not just an ordinary principal; he was a beacon of excellent leadership and compassionate guidance for every student at Summitview Elementary School. When my daughter attended SV, she benefited immensely from his leadership. Every day, she was greeted by a principal who knew her name and cared for her well-being. Mr. Pappas extended this warmth to all his students and their families, creating an inclusive and nurturing environment.

Recently, during the public hearing concerning Mr. Pappas's demotion, I listened to over eight hours of testimony and was appalled by the lack of substantial evidence presented by the Superintendent. It was clear that the so-called 'case' against him was riddled with personal vendettas rather than any objective measures of his professional conduct or performance. The proceedings seemed less about justice and Mr. Pappas's competency as an administrator, and more like a few individuals unfairly ganging up on a competent and dedicated educator.

Under Mr. Pappas's leadership, our school flourished. Students felt valued, teachers were supported, and parents were included. His demotion leaves a palpable void that cannot simply be filled by anyone. The impact he had on the entire school community is undeniable and irreplaceable. The school board's decision not only affects Mr. Pappas's career and livelihood but also disrupts the harmonious environment he has worked tirelessly to build.

It is time for the Waynesboro Area School Board to recognize the significant positive impact Mr. Pappas has had on our children, your children, and all students under his mentorship. We urge them to consider the input of the community and reinstate Mr. Pappas as principal.

We request you, fellow parents, alumni, and community members, to join us in this cause. Sign this petition to send a strong message to the Waynesboro Area School Board that the unjust termination of Mr. Pappas stands against our values as a community. He deserves to continue his exemplary leadership at our school. Let us unite to bring him back for the betterment of our children's education.
