The Issue

Recently, numerous students at our university were abruptly dropped from MICR 122/122L without any notice. This sudden removal has left many of us struggling to complete our required credits on time, directly jeopardizing our paths to graduation.

SJSU makes it hard enough to get the classes that we need when we need them, and now with this setback, the risk of not graduating on our anticipated timelines is increasingly becoming a harsh reality. Additionally, some of us financially planned our education under the expectation of graduating on time, meaning another semester could put us under undue financial strain.

The 122/122L classes are essential components of our curriculum, providing critical knowledge and hands-on experience that are pertinent for our careers. For fields that require precise understanding and practical skills, missing out on these courses means a gap in competency that could affect our future employment prospects.

To address this, we urge the university administration to:

1. **Immediately reinstate the 122/122L classes**: Ensure the courses are available in the upcoming semester to allow current affected students the opportunity to enroll and complete their requirements.

2. **Provide alternative solutions**: Offer additional seats in other classes to accommodate all affected students and/or offer more time slots for those other classes.

3. **Improve communication mechanisms**: Implement a reliable notification system for class changes to prevent future occurrences that disrupt students' educational plans.

4. **Consider financial implications**: Provide support for students who might incur additional tuition fees due to the delay in course availability.

By signing this petition, you're not just helping reinstate these classes; you're supporting students' right to timely and adequate education. Let's unite to ensure that no student is left behind due to administrative oversight. Sign this petition to advocate for the reinstatement of the 122/122L classes and safeguard the academic futures of countless students.
