In the week that National Cabinet decided to scrap mandatory isolation for Covid-19 infection, my bright and beautiful niece was diagnosed with Long Covid.

She is a gifted young woman in her 1st year of software engineering and looking to move into the Artificial Intelligence stream at University of Western Australia. She loves birds and volunteers her Saturday to work at a cockatoo sanctuary. We call her affectionately Bird Nerd, she is a bit of a Dr Who geek as well, she thinks David Tennant is the best Dr, I argue its Tom Baker but hey, it's all Tomatoes, Tomaytoes.

Four months ago she contracted Covid-19, she was quite unwell and extremely fatigued with the usual symptoms, for the last month or more she has been feeling, on most days, extremely fatigued, she can’t walk from the bedroom to the kitchen without needing to sit down.

She feels that her heart is racing and sometimes feels it skips a beat, she has been to several specialists and the diagnosis is Long COVID, it fits the time frame this illness presents itself.

She has had to dramatically cut town her Uni coursework and her volunteering at the sanctuary, all thing she loves but she doesn’t have the energy or mental strength to do it. We are all concerned and worried about her and she is feeling depressed, she spends her days at home and it's affecting her on so many levels.

This is not a virus that only detrimentally affects the elderly or people with existing risk factors, its affects us all.

Please share and sign the petition to maintain Australia's Covid-19 mandatory isolation laws.
