In the heart of East York, ON, Canada, a beloved figure of our community, Lisa Dunn, has unfairly lost her position as a crossing guard at Secord Elementary. Known for her friendly demeanor and extraordinary diligence, Lisa has been a fixture of safety and comfort for our children and their routes to school. Feeding birds hardly seems a cause for removal from such a vital role in our community, particularly when there are nearly 1400 pedestrian injuries or fatalities in Toronto each year (City of Toronto Pedestrian Safety Report). Lisa was always vigilant, ensuring that our children did not add to this statistic.

Lisa's energy and efforts to connect personally with the children are irreplaceable and it is clear her absence is deeply felt. This is a loss to our community and more importantly, to our children, who need dedicated and passionate crossing guards like Lisa.
