We, the undersigned, demand that City-County Councilor Jesse Brown of District 13 be immediately reinstated to the Democratic caucus of the Indianapolis City-County Council and be equitably assigned to six committees, just as his fellow freshman councilors have been.

Jesse Brown was removed from the caucus simply because he spoke the truth and fought tirelessly for the constituents of District 13. The so-called “Democrats” who voted to oust him have turned their backs on transparency, accountability, and the will of the voters. Their actions are an affront to democracy and a blatant attempt to silence a representative who refuses to bow to political pressure at the expense of his community.

For the past 14 months, Jesse has been unfairly assigned to only three committees, while many of his freshman colleagues have been placed on six. This is not just a political maneuver—it is an intentional effort to minimize the voice of District 13. Unlike the majority of his fellow council members, Jesse made the decision to resign from his day job to serve as a full-time Councilor, dedicating himself entirely to the needs of his constituents. As shown by his responsiveness and willingness to meet with constituents, Jesse has demonstrated that he is more than capable of handling a full slate of committee assignments.

Meanwhile, the Indianapolis Democratic leadership has remained deaf to the concerns of their own constituents, prioritizing party loyalty over true representation. Their actions send a clear message: they would rather punish an outspoken advocate than stand by the people they were elected to serve. This is unacceptable.

We, the people of Indianapolis—especially those of us in District 13—refuse to allow our voices to be silenced. Jesse fights for us, and we will fight for him! By signing this petition, we commit to calling and/or emailing every Democratic City-County Council member daily until Jesse Brown is reinstated to the caucus and assigned no fewer than six committees.

This is more than just a demand—it is a declaration that we will not be ignored. We will not allow backroom politics to strip our district of fair representation.
