Reinstate Izak Rankine: End the AFL’s Hypocrisy

The issue

The AFL has benched Adelaide’s Izak Rankine for five matches over a word. Rankine is a high testosterone Chad, operating at the peak of human athletic ability, free speech and high octane language are written into his DNA.

Meanwhile, the AFL is paying millions to degenerate rapper Snoop Dogg to headline the Grand Final, an artist whose catalogue is filled with the very same slur, plus language that necessarily demeans women and glorifies violence. Our man is punished. The criminal Hollywood celebrity is celebrated.

That isn’t integrity. That’s hypocrisy.

Fans know the difference between genuine hate speech and meaningless, throw away insults on the field. No one needs AFL Karens sanitizing football and acting as thought-police for words that even their own entertainers use on stage.

Show us the mobile phone records of the league executives and let them be judged by the same standards if they believe it's so important. If the AFL falters on free speech, move the league to North Korea and stop taking our money you filthy Commies!

Free speech matters. If the AFL embraces criminal rappers who’ve built careers on edgy, offensive, or controversial language, then law-abiding players deserve the same freedom without career-ending punishment.

We demand the AFL reinstate Izak Rankine. Drop the suspension. If Snoop Dogg can stand on stage at the Grand Final and say whatever he wants, then Rankine should be free to play footy without being dragged through the mud for a single word.

The AFL can’t have it both ways. Either it bans every artist whose lyrics contain offensive language, or it accepts that free speech is part of culture, and lets players play.

We choose freedom, fairness, and football. Reinstate Rankine now.
