My friend, a student at Marsteller Middle School in Bristow, VA, was recently expelled due to poor grades and behavioral issues. He deeply regrets his actions and is currently facing difficulties adjusting to a new school environment. We believe that everyone deserves a second chance to rectify their mistakes and improve themselves.

Expulsion can have severe long-term consequences on students' academic achievement, mental health, and future prospects. According to the American Psychological Association (APA), expulsion often exacerbates existing personal and family challenges. It also increases the likelihood of negative outcomes such as involvement with the juvenile justice system.

We understand that maintaining discipline within schools is crucial for creating an effective learning environment. However, we believe that alternative disciplinary measures should be considered before resorting to expulsion - especially when the student shows remorse for their actions.

We urge Marsteller Middle School administration to reconsider their decision and allow my friend another chance at education in an environment he's familiar with - one where he can learn from his past mistakes rather than being punished indefinitely for them.
