The UK relies heavily on digital alerts (mobile networks, apps, broadcast). In a large-scale national emergency — including conflict or catastrophic infrastructure failure — those systems could be disabled, leaving communities without timely warning.

We ask the Government to:

 • Commission a feasibility study for a nationwide, traditional air‑raid siren system.

 • Fund and implement a pilot in selected regions within 12 months.

 • Require local authorities to install, maintain and test sirens, coordinated by local resilience forums and emergency services.

 • Run a public education campaign explaining signals and responses.

Why this matters: sirens are a simple, resilient, public-facing alert that do not depend on mobile or internet coverage, and can warn people who are outdoors or without devices. A national approach ensures uniform signals, testing, and maintenance.
