The Issue

About This Initiative
Eastbluff Park has always been a special gathering place for Newport Beach families — where our children learn, laugh, and grow together. But the playground equipment has become outdated and no longer reflects the imagination, inclusivity, and safety today’s kids deserve.

We’re asking the City of Newport Beach to explore a thoughtful renovation of Eastbluff Park’s playground — one that engages children of all ages and abilities, encourages creative and active play, and reflects the natural beauty and innovation of modern parks like Tunnel Tops in San Francisco.

Our Vision
Imagine a park where children climb, explore, and imagine freely — surrounded by nature, community, and laughter.
A place with:

Inclusive play zones for toddlers, older kids, and children of all abilities
Nature-inspired design using wood, stone, and rope for imaginative, sensory-rich play
Shaded seating and gathering areas for families and neighbors to connect
Safe, sustainable materials built to last for future generations

Why It Matters
Outdoor play is essential to children’s physical health, emotional wellbeing, and social development.
Modern playgrounds don’t just entertain — they build confidence, creativity, and community.

Revitalizing Eastbluff Park would:

Encourage more time outdoors and less screen time
Create a welcoming, accessible space for all families
Enhance neighborhood pride and safety
Strengthen community connection across generations

What We’re Asking
We respectfully urge the Newport Beach City Council to:

Initiate a design and feasibility study to update Eastbluff Park’s playground
Engage the community in the design process through open input sessions
Explore funding opportunities through city budgets, grants, and public-private partnerships
Our community is ready to collaborate — from sharing ideas to assisting with fundraising. Together, we can transform Eastbluff Park into a vibrant, inclusive, and inspiring destination for years to come.
