Stop exploitation of Mental Health Professionals

The Issue

Random companies have started to try and cash in on the increase in focus on mental  health issues.

HOW do they want to cash in?

1. Set up portals for offering counselling/therapy sessions from unqualified professionals

2. Grossly underpaying highly competent professionals with at least 7+ years of education and hard work behind them.

3. Getting professionals to see patients, create content, conduct workshops, conduct assessments for salaries that are not even peanuts.

4. systematically mobilising their resources and coffers to shoot down and criticism by harassing people who ask questions.

I, Dr. Siddharth Chowdhury raised my voice against one of these exploitative platforms.

The following points were put together by Masters Student, Mr. Shailesh Jaiswal.

Dr. Siddharth Chowdhury recently made a post about a company hiring a Clinical Psychologist for Rs 15,000 to 20,000 salary for a fresher. The post, however, was removed due to some reasons. .

As per the Rehabilitation Council Of India's recent guidelines, the pay scale of CP should be Rs. 56100 - 177500, as mentioned by Kanishka sir)

Some companies even offer Rs 10,000 salary to CP, says Prerna Mishra, MPhil Clinical Psychology Trainee

"They treat the professionals like graduate students who have just completed graduation and are freshers now. They also do not the know the professional-patient ratio is so low here. Which is why they dare to exploit the professionals in this rate which is very sad and infuriating" says Usri Sengupta, a Clinical Psychologist and Research Scholar.

"I find the pay quoted and responsibilities offered to be disproportionate," says Dr. Siddharth Chowdhury

we need to make sure the Rehabilitation Council of India steps in to ensure that no professional is exploited by these money hungry firms.
