This matter is deeply personal to me and many others who share my religious beliefs. Recently, technological advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) have made it possible to convert still images into video format. This development, albeit impressive, is not without its negative impacts. Alarmingly, some individuals are misusing this technology to alter sacred imagery of Gurus and Devi Devtas. This manipulation of religious symbols does not just affect the integrity of these sacred figures but also deeply wounds our beliefs. According to a survey by the Pew Research Center in 2020, 77% of respondents agree that altering such sacred images can be deeply disturbing and offensive to many people, especially when these alterations are done against their religious principles (source: Pew Research Center). This violation is not just an attack on our faith but also on our right to practice our beliefs with respect. We must preserve the sanctity and respect of all religions. It is crucial, then, that there are laws to regulate the misuse of technology in such sensitive matters. We urge policy-makers and technology companies to adopt guidelines that allow progress but prevent the misuse of these developments in religious contexts.
