Regulate the sale and use of 7oH/kratom

Regulate the sale and use of 7oH/kratom
The Issue
Ban Concentrated Synthetic 7-Hydroxy-Mitragynine (7oH). Not Whole-Leaf Kratom, and Require a minimum three (3)-Month Public Notice Period prior to banning substances. This gives individuals time to plan how to get through the withdrawals that come with suddenly stopping use of 7oh, which is a very complicated issue and needs to be dealt with by professionals.
To: State Legislators, Governors, Members of Congress, and Public Health Officials
We, the undersigned, are calling for urgent action regarding concentrated, synthetic, or chemically isolated 7-Hydroxy-Mitragynine (7oH) — an ultra-potent compound being sold legally with no oversight, no testing, no potency disclosure, and no warning labels whatsoever.
This petition does not call for banning or restricting natural whole-leaf kratom.
Whole-leaf kratom is a plant, and millions use it responsibly.
The issue is synthetic, concentrated 7oH extracts, which are far more potent, far more addictive, and often mislabeled as “kratom.”
Our Position on Personal Freedom
Human beings have the right to put whatever they want into their own bodies —
as long as they are told the truth about what they’re taking and understand the risks involved.
Right now, consumers are being misled:
Products don’t disclose they contain synthetic 7oH
There are no warnings
There is no potency transparency
People believe they’re taking a natural plant product when they’re not
This isn’t free choice — it’s deception.
Why This Petition Matters
An estimated 14 million Americans purchase kratom or 7oH products every week, and many have no idea they are ingesting laboratory-created concentrates instead of natural kratom.
Consumers are experiencing:
Severe, dangerous withdrawal
ER visits
Loss of work and income
Mental health crises
Long-term physical and psychological consequences
This is a nationwide public health problem flying under the radar.
Why We’re Speaking Out
I founded Klear Recovery, a nationwide medical network that helps individuals detox safely from 7oH dependence.
We have now been involved in over a thousand detoxes, giving us firsthand insight into the suffering concentrated 7oH is causing. We've been featured in USA Today and other media outlets.
And I want to be completely transparent:
My company financially benefits from helping people detox from 7oH, and even with that financial incentive, I still want these products regulated or removed from the market because of the severe harm and heartbreak I experience on a daily basis. Because of this experience, I believe I am qualified, and obligated, to do everything in my power to put an end to this epidemic (which it genuinely is).
This is not about money. This is about human lives and public safety. The product has been on shelves for around four years now, the fact that the FDA has turned a blind eye to a drug that is thirty times stronger than morphine is unacceptable and embarrassing for our country.
What We Are Requesting
1. Ban or tightly regulate concentrated, synthetic, or isolated 7oH products.
Do not ban or restrict natural whole-leaf kratom.
2. Require a minimum 3-month public notice period before any ban takes effect, so dependent users can taper safely.
Require transparent labeling, ingredient lists, potency disclosures, and mandatory warning labels on any product containing 7oH or other isolated alkaloids.
3. Launch public awareness campaigns explaining the difference between whole-leaf kratom and synthetic 7oH extracts.
This is not about prohibition. This is about truth, transparency, and protecting people from being misled into addiction.
Everyone deserves the right to know what they’re putting in their body, and what risks come with it.
