The Issue

I am personally forecasting a grave threat to India's educational landscape in the next decade if we cannot regulate the high fees in our private schools currently. For many families, including my own, education is a significant part of our annual spending due to these high costs.

The costs of private education in India have been rising exponentially, with many private schools charging fees that far exceed those of public institutions. According to an ASSOCHAM survey, the annual cost of private schooling in metropolitan cities of India has risen by an average of 150% in the last decade, compared to a mere 38% increase in the cost of public education over the same period.

We, the concerned parents and citizens of India, urge the government to take serious steps toward improving the quality of education in government and semi-government schools. Due to poor infrastructure, lack of teachers, and outdated methods, most parents are forced to send their children to expensive private schools.

Private schools are taking advantage of this situation by raising fees every year without proper regulation, putting a huge financial burden on families.

We request the following steps:

- Increase the number of well-equipped government and semi-government schools.

- Improve the quality of teaching, infrastructure, and accountability in existing schools.

- Strictly regulate private school fees through transparent policies.

As a result of high fees, families are forced to either compromise their living standards or their children's education. The long-term effects of a lack of access to quality education are detrimental not only for the individual but also for the nation as a whole.

Making quality education accessible and affordable for all is a fundamental right enshrined in the Indian Constitution. The time has come to ensure this right is upheld for every child in India by implementing strict regulations on the school fees charged by private schools. Sign this petition to urge our government to regulate the fee structure of private schools and make quality education accessible to all.
