The Issue

Losing a loved one is one of the most challenging experiences anyone can endure. My family has had to navigate this heartbreak compounded by failures at a local funeral home. With no clear regulations overseeing these essential services in the UK, we found ourselves fighting a battle on two fronts: mourning our loss while seeking justice for the way everything was handled afterwards. Unfortunately, we are not alone in this struggle.
We will be our mums voice and we will fight for justice.
Mum you are and always will be our world and all of this is for you !

Many families across the UK have suffered due to a lack of oversight in the funeral industry. In our case, the funeral home failed to uphold its basic promises, significantly adding to our distress during a time when compassion and professionalism should have been paramount. These bereaved families deserve respect and dignity rather than neglect and oversight failures during their grieving processes.

Statistics show that the funeral industry in the UK generates significant revenue every year, yet operates with minimal regulation. Unlike other essential services which are bound by strict codes of practice and regulations, funeral homes are left largely to self-govern. This gap in regulation exposes grieving families to potential exploitation and mishandling. Such practices are unacceptable and preventable.

Proposed legislation to regulate funeral homes would establish basic standards for service delivery, ensuring that every establishment must adhere to stringent guidelines to protect mourning families. These regulations could include mandatory staff training, transparent pricing, and regular audits to ensure adherence to ethical practices. By holding funeral homes accountable, we can ensure that no other family has to endure unnecessary heartbreak during their time of loss.

Join us in urging the UK government to introduce regulatory measures for funeral homes. Together, we can push for change and ensure that no family suffers in the way my family did. Sign this petition to make a difference for thousands of grieving families across the UK.
