Most Taiwanese residents and those that have any general knowledge about Taiwan's participation in the Olympic games will know why Taiwan competes as Chinese Taipei in the Olympic Games. However, in the recent events leading into the London 2012 Summer Olympic Games, Taiwan's flag was removed from a display of flags located on Regent Street and replaced with the Chinese Taipei flag.

The Chinese Embassy requested for the flag's removal to censor Taiwan's participation in the international games. No matter what their cause, it is unjust to exclude Taiwan's flag outside the Olympic arenas. This petition is to urge the Regent Street Association to take a stand against the long history of flag bullying that Taiwan has faced on the international stage and use Taiwan's red, blue and white-coloured flag in their display of flags on their street.

大多數台灣居民，和所有追蹤台灣參與奧運相關資訊的人，都知道台灣為何是以中華台北的名義參與奧運。然而，在2012倫敦奧運開賽前夕，懸掛在Regent街的台灣國旗被撤下，並被中華台北的旗子取代。

這次事件象徵大陸對台灣在國際球賽參與的限制，大陸領事館要求倫敦把台灣國旗移除。無論理由，這起國旗被徹事件對台灣相當不公正。希望此請願書可以激勵Regent Street Association站在公正的立場上，為台灣討公道，並使用台灣的青天白日滿地紅國旗在他們的街上。
