Regarding Kerala killing wild animals belonging to Schedule 1

The Issue

Sub: - Requesting investigations to be done regarding the below mentioned crimes in Devikulam range of Munnar Forest division.
1. The sighting of dead-body of the small elephant in Chinnakkanal
2.  The frequently happening deaths of wild animals in this area
3. The recent attack on Chakkakomban in Chinnakkanal area, whose body is being badly injured and burnt.

The body of a baby elephant, looking few days old, and about four year old, has been recovered from this area recently. The controversial statement that the baby (who hasn’t even reached puberty) was killed during an in fight between Chakkakomban was straight away released by Devikulam Range officer PV Vegi, long before the postmortem report has been released. NGO representation as per MoEFSCC  instructions too was not ensured during it’s postmortem. Instead as NGO, a puppet representative signed the report who was pushed into the scenario from somewhere.
Just 2, 3 day ago, Chakkakomban was mob attacked by locals, it’s body and legs had been badly burnt
So kindly take legal measures regarding:
1. The details regarding the death of baby elephant need to done via a special investigation team. Consider enquiring the role of Range officer regarding the death of elephant calf. It would also be sensible to do investigation regarding the strange deaths of other elephants especially in and around Idukki district.                          2. Case be filed against the mob who attacked and burnt Chakkakomban.  Ensure proper treatment is executed in the meanwhile.
3. As per Wildlife Protection Act, cases should be filed against the groups, social media platforms and their admins who are continuously spreading hatred and scare regarding wildlife.
4. Urgently detain PV Vegi from his official duties as Devikulam Range officer until a comprehensive investigation is conducted regarding the baby elephants death is done.                                                                 5. As per recently issued High court rulings, immediate actions should be taken against all encroachments that had happened in Munnar and all over  the High ranges in Kerala and declare Chinnakkanal as an Elephant reserve.                                             The negative interventions, messages that create confusion about even human rights concepts is a huge threat against the responsibility each of us as citizens of India is entrusted on via Constitution of India, to conserve wildlife and wildlife habitats. Already the state of Kerala recently had been raised to the status of losing at least one or two wildlife every week, utterly forgetting it’s responsibility as a state and also overlooking its conservation responsibilities. None of the deaths of elephants, tigers and leopards, that are basically Schedule 1 animals, which had been happening frequently and tragically and evidently well planned by wildlife haters for the last few years were treated by Forest Department staff with idle indifference. So we urge and entrust you to  urgent interventions that are required to protect the already diminishing wildlife, especially those belonging to Schedule 1, in Idukki section.  So kindly do the needful at the earliest by taking action against the culprits or we will have to proceed with legal interventions.
