Refuse Proposed Solar Farm Developments

Refuse Proposed Solar Farm Developments
The Issue
The scenic landscapes that define our community in Kildare and Laois are under threat from proposed solar farm developments. Living in these areas, we cherish the natural beauty, tranquility, and ecological diversity that make our home unique.
The proposed projects, detailed in
Kildare application (File No. 2561050) and Laois application (File No. 2560579), threaten to disrupt this delicate balance.
While the need for renewable energy is pressing, the vision for these solar farms lacks consideration for local impact. Their scale is unprecedented and their locations poorly chosen, threatening to overwhelm our rural environment and disrupt our way of life. Concerns over increased traffic, noise pollution, and potential harm to local wildlife are significant.
Furthermore, these projects do not align with what we believe to be balanced, sustainable planning. The developments have thus far lacked true community engagement. Decisions made without involving the people they impact ignore critical insights and priorities of those who will live with the outcome.
We are not opposed to solar energy. In fact, we champion renewables that are scaled properly, community-driven, and placed in areas less sensitive to ecological and social impacts. Projects that invite local involvement and enhance rather than detract from the community should be prioritized.
Our request is simple yet vital: we urge planning authorities to refuse these current applications. Instead, we propose a commitment towards renewable projects that prioritize community welfare and ecological sustainability.
Loss of land; Biodiversity; Visual; Heritage (Lea Castle); Community/Infrastructure; Scale & Cumulative Impac
Your support will send a clear message that planning must evolve to include the voices and well-being of those most affected. Stand with us for responsible, sustainable development. Sign the petition today.
