Here is a poster showing how parties differ in their approach to the housing crisis.

Labour and Conservative, and sometimes, Lib Dems, go for demolition as the only viable option when faced with ageing buildings.

Only the Greens consistently promote retrofitting first.  This means bringing buildings up to standard first and not just demolishing what are often structurally sound buildings.    Though the Lib Dems are more forward thinking than the other two main political parties.  They hope to refurbish where possible.

The Lib Dems and the Greens both plan to reuse office spaces to turn into housing, and support saving estates like ours.

Of course, there are others, like Burning Pink, that hope to put communities and the environment first.

All of which in turn leads to a healthy population and a strong economy, as people can afford to eat and heat their homes and spend on other things.

Here's a quote from the Guardian,

“Construction accounts for 60% of all materials used in UK, a third of all waste and 45% of all CO2 emissions.

It is a greedy, profligate and polluting monster, gobbling up resources and spitting out the remains in intractable lumps.”     Jan 2020
