The Issue

As a citizen of India, I am deeply concerned about the protection of liberties for my fellow countrymen, liberties that are becoming distorted due to, what I believe to be, inadequate policies on YouTube and the Copyright Laws of our Country. The recent wave of strikes against content creators, particularly those generating news content whether it's Mohak,  Thugesh and many other youtubers demand our attention and action. Major media houses appear to be leveraging these policies to suppress independent voices, threatening to undermine the ability of YouTube as a platform to contribute to the vibrancy of our democratic discourse.

The media, particularly online platforms, are often referred to as the "Fourth Pillar" of our democratic society. Like the other three pillars - the legislature, the executive, the judiciary - the media plays a crucial role in maintaining checks and balances. However, recent actions seem indicative of attempts to shake this pillar, threatening to destabilize the very essence of our democracy.

A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) needs to be filed to ensure the Independent Functioning of this crucial pillar of OUR Democracy. Reforming the laws and regulations against YouTube Content Creators will ensure a level-playing field, fostering a more robust and diverse representation of voices.

I therefore call upon every individual who cherishes the idea of a transparent and functioning democracy, to join me in urging the courts, policy makers and the platform itself, to reform these practices. We must ensure that the media continues to be an independent and effective pillar of our society. Sign this petition today to join in this fight.

More Power to Our Democracy.
