Hi to all of our supporters to date. I apologize for the lack of updates as I have been recovering from a full knee replacement the last month.
We will start to gain momentum on the petition again via more outreach in the coming months. I wanted to share 2 more articles that help highlight the massive mis-management of the South Street corridor under the current board at the SSHD.
Billy Penn Article
Give this Billy Penn article a read when you have a sec. It highlights many of the issues we've been addressing.
Philadelphia Today Article
Give this article a read. If this is truly the case, and grocery stores are competing for space, then it highlights the continuous failures of the SSHD.
There are two HUGE, vacant spaces that could hold grocery stories in Queen Village / Society Hill. The former CVS at 2nd and Lombard is 8400 square feet while the empty space running the length of South street between 2nd and 3rd boasts 25,000 feet. This was supposed to be occupied by Giant before the prior owner completely screwed up the deal. That property is now bank owned but why is no one working to bring in grocery stores to some of the nicest neighborhoods in the City? Seems like the SSHD should be at the helm of that with the bank and realtor, but alas, they are not.
