Did you know there were over 44,000 views of this petition yet only 1,800 signatures in a city of almost a million people?
The shelter is continuing to refuse intake for neonatal kittens, and malnourished skinny and many times sickly dogs expecting the community to foot the bill after they’ve already paid their taxes to the city to provide this safety net.
Not everyone has the money, time and resources to care for these poor souls and the City and current shelter Chief can’t get out of their own way to approve humane emergency temporary shelters and a massive multifaceted ongoing marketing campaign to help increase adoptions and recruit more fosters and volunteers.
In order to make change to the system we need to get at least 10,000 signatures to show City Leaders that their constituents mean business, or they will continue to do nothing.
While we know there are many things that need to change to improve animal welfare within the city, and for the shelter to truly be a humane No-Kill facility, we must have a shelter leader who is committed to truly doing the work not just earning a paycheck and will advocate to city leaders on behalf of the shelter and community to get the resources needed to provide more humane facilities that match our population and population growth.
Change is one step at a time.
If we don’t have enough citizens demanding change, and a shelter figure head to lead that change, all those awesome ideas that community members have to improve animal welfare will continue to fall on deaf ears.
BE THE CHANGE and continue to help SHARE THE PETITION as well as contact the city leaders yourself too.
