Just an update on progress - Luke Evans MP introduced a Bill in September 2024 to tackle dog on dog attacks and it’s due to have its Second Reading on 11 July in the House of Commons. I am sending him both petitions so it can be added to the portfolio.

Secondly, DEFRA reconvened 'The Responsible Dog Ownership' taskforce in May 2025. It covers 4 areas: Education, Training for both Dogs and their owners, Enforcement and Improving data on dog attacks.

I will be sending the petitions' to NI DEFRA Minister Andrew Muir requesting an update  on the taskforce, clarifying that it will also cover Northern Ireland.
