From my perspective, the existing Honours System seems to starkly contradict our contemporary society's expectations and ideals. Several individuals who have been bestowed with prestigious accolades do not seem to exemplify the moral and ethical standard we should associate with such recognition.

We ought to live in a society that celebrates innovation, adaptability, and constant progress. Our institutions, including the Honours System, should mirror these values. According to a YouGov poll in 2020, 44% of the public support reform of the honours system. This highlights a clear need for change.

There are 829 sitting members in the House of Lord as at 1/4/25 which is FAR too many.

To award medals relating to the British Empire is offensive to many.

We need reform that ensures those who genuinely contribute to society and embody its core values are the ones who receive acknowledgement. It is time to establish a system which rewards merit and public service over wealth, status, or celebrity and those who are friends of the PM.

We need a system that is resonant with the spirit of our times, one that truly celebrates contributors who reflect the best of our society. Please sign the petition to reform and modernize the Honours System.
