Reform and Improvement for the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority and Board

Reform and Improvement for the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority and Board
The Issue
To my USVI community, we stand as one!
Community organization can create CHANGE. We want and need to take this opportunity as a people to organize and communicate our requirements.
WAPA and its current board members have continued to fail us and have provided unreliable inconsistent service. We all can agree that we should not operate as a 3rd world country, yet our public utility charges us a minimum of three times the highest per kWh rate nationally, and also the highest per kWh rate within Caribbean nations. Just in the past year, WAPA has experienced missing funds, faulty generators, incorrect bills, higher payments for USVI residents. They continue to fall short.
This is not acceptable and would not be acceptable in any other place in the United States of America.
1. Hold leadership accountable: WAPA Leadership, including the board, continues to produce the minimum in regards to outcomes and improvement the community can see. We deserve better!
2. A Freeze on all pay increases for leadership/executives: the current review for raises on 06/25/2020 is unacceptable for a poorly operating company, with limited improvements noted. Along with no transparent concrete plan of improvement presented.
3. Pay Increases for Union Employees due from 7+ years:
4. Transparency: Finacial, Planning, and Potential/Current Complications
5. Structural Improvement Plan for Billing & Service: Elimination of estimated bills. This should be illegal, and an overhaul of the billing department and systems need to be made. Corrections to credits becoming immediate, and not retroactive are of high concern, including billing errors.
Community Request:
We are asking as a community that we make WAPA reform a requirement for all government officials running in the upcoming elections. It is a burden for our community and needs to be TOP priority.
In response to this, let's put our vote where it counts. <------ Do not vote into office any elective official who does not agree with the reform or have a plan to improve our current system!
We are asking our community to come together and express our continued disgust! We Will Not Take This Anymore!!!
We are deserving of an electrical and water system that is reliable, effective, and properly run.
