The Virgin Islands State Senate is the legislative body of the U.S. Virgin Islands, an unincorporated territory of the United States. Comprising of 15 members elected from two different districts, they are entrusted with the task of crafting and passing local laws, as well as with the budgeting and appropriations responsibilities for the islands. Senators serve two-year terms without term limits. The Senate operates under a system of standing committees where much of the policy work is conducted and plays a crucial role in shaping public policy for the territory.
