We wish to provide an update to petition signers regarding the concerns raised about Scenic Rim Regional Council’s treatment of farmers who are supplementing their income through low-impact, self-sufficient camping.
These concerns have been formally escalated beyond operational staff and communicated directly to the Chief Executive Officer of Scenic Rim Regional Council. Despite this escalation, there has been no substantive response, policy clarification, or indication of action from the CEO’s office to date.
The absence of engagement at the executive level is disappointing, particularly given the significance of this issue to rural landholders, farm viability, and the broader regional economy. Many affected farmers operate responsibly, with minimal environmental impact, and rely on this form of income diversification to remain financially sustainable.
At present, Council’s position remains unclear, inconsistent, and unresolved. This lack of clarity continues to create uncertainty for landholders and undermines confidence that the concerns raised through appropriate channels are being meaningfully considered.
Petition signers should be aware that the matter has not stalled due to a lack of effort or communication from the community. Rather, it reflects an ongoing absence of action following escalation to the highest administrative level within Council.
We will continue to seek transparency, clear policy direction, and constructive engagement, and will provide further updates should Council respond or progress this matter.
Thank you for your continued support.
