After a few months of limited mainstream news activity, this week has been a fairly manic one, with Lucy making the headlines on three consecutive days for three separate reasons. Coincidence?!

No New Charges:

On Tuesday we received the welcome news that the CPS have decided not to pursue new charges against Lucy from the file of evidence they received from Cheshire Police in July last year. In their own words, “the evidential test was not met in any of the cases”.

Whilst this doesn’t change how things stand for Lucy in the here and now, this is the first of what we hope to be many more legal wins to come and a sign that the tide is at last beginning to turn.

Of course, this decision could still be appealed or could even become a matter for the Civil Courts, but that was always going to be the case anyway. The point is, this first hurdle has been cleared and that is a good start to this year.

Here is how the BBC reported on it:

Coroner’s Inquest:

The very next day it was announced that inquests into six of the babies’ deaths from the original indictment are to take place at Cheshire Coroner’s Court, beginning on 04 February 2026.

The Yellow Butterfly Group does not comment on individual cases and believe that only those suitably qualified should do so and always in the most sensitive and dignified way possible.

What we do support is all the cases being looked at again in a fair and unbiased way, that takes into account all the new evidence that has come to light post trial. We very much hope that this is how the inquest will be conducted and we look forward to reading their findings.

The BBC again covered this development below:

Netflix Documentary:

To complete the trilogy of news in as many days, next came the announcement that Netflix would follow all the mainstream TV channels by putting out their own documentary.

While The Yellow Butterfly Group welcomes all TV documentaries, no matter which way they sway (they all help the cause and bring more people on board no matter what the TV company’s agenda is), the trailer for this particular one left a very bitter taste.

The custody routines and police interview footage you can make an argument for, but I believe it is wholly wrong, tasteless and completely unnecessary to show footage of Lucy being arrested at home in extremely sensitive and emotional scenes that should NEVER be put into the public domain. For that reason I will not be sharing the link for the trailer below.

Of course I will be watching it. I have to watch it. But I will never agree that such degrading things are justified. It just goes to show that these TV companies and streaming services will stop at nothing to make their money out of people’s misfortune.

Let’s just hope now that its impact will be powerful and far reaching to at least make it a net gain in Lucy’s favour.

Petition:

Since the news broke of there being no new charges, the petition has enjoyed its biggest ever five day spike, receiving 702 new signatures, taking the total to 8917 at the time of writing.

My thanks to all of you who have recently signed and joined our collective voice of justice for Lucy. I am also extremely grateful to all of you who have sponsored a paid promotion of the petition or just even shared it on your social media platforms or among family and friends. Everything positive we do collectively continues to make a difference.

YouTube Channel:

For those of you here for the first time, or are just not aware that it exists, The Yellow Butterfly Group has an official YouTube channel that we use to publish some of our activities.

Granted it isn’t the most busy YouTube channel in support of Lucy, but everything we put on there is of the highest quality available to us, fact-based, free of bad language and extremely varied.

We are aiming to double our content over the course of this year, so please subscribe if you are interested by clicking on the link below and hitting the subscribe button if you haven’t already done so.

My thanks again to all of you for your support and continuing to make Lucy proud. Together we will see this through.

Best wishes,

Christopher Logan (YB group founder and campaign lead)
