My name is Kalyani and I have been supporting Reeta over the last few weeks. Reeta has asked me to share some good news - her son Dixtan is still here in Australia!

Dixtan is still being detained in Melbourne. He could still be forced to danger. But while Dixtan is here, there’s hope.

Can you email your government or independent MP and Senators now? Please ask them to throw their support behind Reeta and Dixtan.

Reeta also asked me to share some news from Dixtan's lawyers.

Under the Migration Act, the Minister for Immigration, Andrew Giles, can intervene in immigration cases like Dixtan's. That means he has the power to end Reeta and Dixtan's uncertainty and let them reunite, so they can rebuild their lives here together.

But when Dixtan asked the Minister to use his powers to let him stay here with his mum, Reeta, officials in the Department of Home Affairs refused to pass his requests to the Minister.

Now, Dixtan's lawyers have advised: "That Australian Government has conceded that those decision by the delegate not to refer the Requests to the Minister were made in excess of executive power of the Commonwealth."

This means that Dixtan's requests for Ministerial Intervention have to go back to the Department of Home Affairs to be reconsidered.

Dixtan still isn't safe. The officials could still refuse to pass on Dixtan's requests to the Minister. He could be forced to danger and Reeta could lose her precious son forever.

Minister Giles has the power to step in and #LetDixtanStay here with Reeta, where she knows he'll be safe. He can do this at any time - but we urgently need to show that Reeta and Dixtan have the support of other MPs and Senators.
