I’m overwhelmed to see the support of more than 13,000 people within just a week. Thank you for your signatures. With just a few weeks till my son could be forced to leave Australia, can you please amplify our campaign to #LetDixtanStay?

During the peak of the genocide in Sri Lanka in 2009, my husband died in Mullivaikkal in the so called “no fire zone”. My son was only 13 years old. He was too young and experienced too much pain.

The Sri Lankan army captured me and my son and put us in a camp with other Tamils. Even after we were released from camp, the Army and CID regularly checked on us and one day they sexually assaulted me while my son and mother were in the next room. Dixtan and I have to live with the ongoing pain and trauma from that time.

My son and I have experienced terrible tragedies and the loss of all our dearest loved ones.

Now, we’ve just got each other but unless Minister Giles steps in, immigration officials could  tear us apart and send Dixtan back to a country where he has no one.

We are grateful for your support. Please help us by sharing the petition.

I’ve also asked myFederal Member, Julian Hill for help and the more people who sign this petition, the better our chances of convincing him to advocate for us.

I now sit every day not knowing what will happen. But your signatures and comments give me hope to dream of a reunion with my beloved son, Dixtan.
