Small businesses form the heartbeat of our community. However, the recent changes to Pleasanton Road have had a detrimental impact, not only affecting local businesses but also posing serious traffic hazards.

The closure of street passages and installation of medians have created barriers that turn away potential customers, who can no longer easily access their favorite local spots. For business owners already trying to recover from the pandemic's economic blow, this additional obstacle could be devastating.

Beyond economic implications, these medians have worsened traffic congestion, exacerbating rush hour delays and creating confusion among drivers. More alarmingly, the altered traffic flow increases the risk of accidents, especially around school zones where children walk to and from school every day.

Our priority should be ensuring our roads are safe and accessible for everyone, particularly the most vulnerable members of our community.

We urge the San Antonio City Council to reevaluate these changes. Let's reopen necessary street passages and consider modifying or removing parts of the medians to restore safe and efficient traffic flow. By doing so, we can support local businesses, reduce congestion, and most importantly, ensure the safety of our children and fellow residents.
