Firstly I want to apologise for the graphic photo, this is the scene of the accident described below
.
We are drawing close to the end of July, and getting closer to the two year anniversary of Bob's Death 03/10/15, before that though is his birthday the 05/08/69 only 46 years young when a drunk driver killed him.
Can I ask you to spare a few minutes to read my petition & take the time to sign in the name of all those taken to soon.
I am not alone in counting up anniversaries for the loss of a loved one through drink or drugged driving. Imagine if you can the day of my loss. On the 3/10/15 we had arranged to meet up before saying our final goodbyes to my sister who was dying of cancer tragic enough you might think, however add on to that hearing a report of an accident that has closed the road to your home and that the emergency services are working on a person riding driving a vehicle familiar to you. in panic you phone your loved one but get no reply. Terrified you head to the scene to make sure your loved one is safe only to find your loved one is involved. You beg and beg the police to let you go and talk to your loved one just to let them know everything will be fine, you then hear the words you never ever thought you would hear the from the police officer I am so very sorry to have to inform you but your loved one has passed. Your world then disintegrates into a nightmare you desperately want to wake up from but know you have to keep it together for the loss you have yet to face, and knowing you have to inform family members of this loss, this scenario is pretty much what most of those who have lost a loved one to a drunk driver faces some families will get the dreaded knock at the door, you so want the world to stop spinning so you can get off. This was my day two years ago. Not long afterwards you find out the driver who took your loved ones life was drunk this is when the what if's come into play, what if they had set off earlier or later they would still be alive. The accident would have still happened but another family would be mourning the loss.
Since the driver was sentenced I have campaigned to change the sentencing of these drivers and am now campaigning to bring the drink drive limit down to be inline with Scotland & Wales as a minimum I would prefer a zero tolerance but don't think that will ever happen.
With my story fresh in your minds please consider signing my petition and asking your family and friends to do the same.
I thank you for your time
Much Love
Lorraine
