Reduce the 90-Day Limit for Display Name Changes on VrChat

The Issue

I am a regular user of VrChat, an online virtual reality platform where users can interact with each other using avatars. One of the features that has been causing me and many others frustration is the 90-day limit set for changing our display names. This long waiting period feels over-exaggerated and unnecessary, especially when we no longer identify with our current names.

The ability to change one's name is not just about personal preference but also about identity expression. In a world where we spend increasing amounts of time online, our digital identities become an extension of who we are in real life. Having to stick with a name that no longer represents us for such a prolonged period can feel restrictive and frustrating.

Furthermore, many other popular platforms allow more frequent name changes - Minecraft allows users to change their names every 30 days while Steam allows it once per week. This shows that shorter periods are not only possible but also widely accepted in the industry.

We propose that VrChat reduces this limit to something more reasonable like 10, 20 or at least 30 days. This would still prevent abuse of the system while allowing users more freedom in expressing their evolving identities.

Join us in urging VrChat to reconsider its policy on display name changes and make this important adjustment for its user community's benefit. VrChat has to considerate with their players needs aswell! Please sign this petition today!
