Reduce Speed Limit And Increase Police Surveillance On Anderson Rd
Reduce Speed Limit And Increase Police Surveillance On Anderson Rd
The Issue
I'm a 14 year resident of South Euclid, having lived on Anderson Rd. for all 14 years. The goal of this petition is to reduce the speed limit from 35 mph to 25 mph on Anderson Rd. and increase police surveillance at the intersection of Anderson Rd. and Trebisky. Over the years, there has been at least one major accident, annually. So far this year, just within the last month, there have been 2 accidents.
Aside from the accidents, I have personally witnessed drivers who ignore the red light, especially when they are turning left onto Anderson from Trebisky, turning left onto Anderson from Bryan Dr., and going straight from Bryan Dr. to Trebisky. Those examples are in addition to drivers who intentionally speed through a yellow/red light driving down Anderson. Additionally, later in the evening or early morning hours, I have witnessed drivers speeding excessively, up to speeds of 50mph or more.
I feel that, left unaddressed, Anderson Rd. will become increasingly unsafe and more accidents will be the result. All it takes is one of the speeders at night to lose control and take out a utility pole or destroy personal property. Years ago, I witnessed an accident on this street where a vehicle destroyed the front porch of a house and smashed into the side of another house.I ask that this matter be given the attention it deserves, especially with the change of season and improving weather.
I'm asking the residents of South Euclid to sign my petition so that it can be provided as support to the mayor in addition to the letter I intend to send her.
