Reduce single use plastic in snack packaging

Reduce single use plastic in snack packaging
The Issue
summary: when i buy a big packet of snacks, there are often many smaller single use plastic packets. these are often non-recyclable as they have have leftover food scraps deeming them as waste. i made this petition to ask packaging manufactures to either reduce plastic waste/use thinner or less plastic per packet/ use more sustainable materials such as paper. albeit small, this can eventually result in a big change :) hope u support this petition!

Every time I buy a big packet of snacks, I'm often surprised and frustrated to find that it's filled with tiny packets, each wrapped in single-use plastic. Because of this packaging choice, we're contributing to environmental pollution, even when our intention might be just to enjoy a small snack.
Single-use plastics are a major concern for our environment. According to the EPA, only 8.7% of plastics were recycled in the United States in 2018. The rest ends up in landfills or the ocean, threatening wildlife and ecosystems. It's disheartening to think that every time we reach for a snack, we might be adding to this growing crisis.
While I understand the need for preserving freshness and portion control, there are sustainable alternatives that could be explored. Using thinner plastic, or even transitioning to biodegradable paper options, can be a step towards reducing our environmental footprint. Many companies have already started making strides in this direction, proving it’s both feasible and beneficial.
I'm calling on snack manufacturers to rethink their packaging strategies and consider eco-friendly alternatives. By doing so, we not only protect our planet but also align with the growing consumer demand for sustainability.
Please join me in urging companies to take responsibility and innovate for a greener future. Sign this petition today and let's push for a change towards sustainable snack packaging.
